Bionicle Takanuva Re-imagined

Fan art from 12th of April, 2019. A piece of my childhood, one of many - if not - the biggest favourite character of the series BIONICLE, by LEGO.

It all began as a simple idea, of me wanting to combine all forms/versions of this character (Takanuva), to then sketch both back and front view, going from there into making my own illustration of this character. It also the "Toa of Light" (the title of this individual). Looking at his arsenal of weapons, being an odd spear/scythe shaped tool. Of course, it changed by each version. But, to me it never screamed "Light". A toa of light is supposively an individual who shines upon all darkness, to let there be light. So, my choice was therefor to make a staff, in which glew a powerful source of light from its top. The idea was to actually have different weapons being shaped by this light, but I kept it as simple as possible.

I also took note of each colour he'd have from each iteration, wanting to bring some parts of each version into one and the same.

Background changed and adapted to something I see fit, to see how the light would affect things around him.

Shading gold, figuring out general texture of such shades, along with the non-gold parts, with me trying to differentiate how each of the materials are shaded, to get the desired result.

Adding another sketch, with a different view. A better way to understand the design of the body. Potential 3D model (was my initial thought).
